As part of the recent restructuring, the abstract web module has been replaced with a simplified Jetty wrapper. While that has many advantages from the implementation point of view, it unfortunately deleted all of the work that had been done to achieve implementation independant configuration and management of the web tier.

I believe that we do need a geronimo web tier, rather than just thin
wrapping of existing web container implementations. So I have updated
the wiki web tier architecture page to reflect the aspirations that I think
we should have for the geronimo web tier:

  http://wiki.apache.org/geronimo/Architecture_2fWebContainer

If these web requirements and arhicture is accepted, then I beleive
that it should result in the recreation of a web module
for common elements/contracts/configuration/etc. However it may not
be in the form of the previous inherited abstract classes.

It would be good to have this page reviewed/discussed/enhanced before
we put to much more effort into another actual implementation of them.

cheers
