>From my experience, in most use cases the log file is not required. Moreover, looking from an user's side it looks strange when a program writes a log when it wasn't explicitly requested to do so... Let's follow the common approach for all L2&3 applications? In other words, a program is doing sth. only when it was explicitly requested from an user.
