I have found the problem. The individual pvr definition files store the mode line that was originally set when the pvr entry was set up. get-iplayer uses the mode setting in the pvr file and ignores the options file. So if your pvr entry was created a while a go e.g. my Dr Who and Sky at Night, then you are stuck with the old mode settings until you edit the pvr definition.
