As I thought.

It would appear to validate things like correctness of a CC no / V code for a given card type and so
forth.
 
My client requires payable anonymous event sign up functionality, but
has been slow in choosing a merchant provider.

Naturally, until they do so, I'm testing in a vacuum  so to speak.

I think that the test processor doesn't do anything, it just makes
your payment work no matter what.
