Actually, it generates a paint event, but I can't tell if it's refreshing
the whole window or not.

It's from a sample project called 'scroll' that I downloaded from heaven
knows where. The only clues about where it came from are that it has a
picture of the Mona Lisa in it, which is labeled "jconde", the canvas is
called "jocoScroller" and the scrollbar is "jocoScrollbar".

Such are the wonders of the internet...;)
