Yes, you didn't follow the directions posted previously. It also looks like you're trying to embark on a project without first learning the basics of REALbasic... if you haven't already done so, I recommend going through the tutorial, step by step. You'll learn a lot more in an hour or two than you'll be able to learn in a week of "Why doesn't this work?" questions on this list.
Also, learn to use the Language Reference. When you have a syntax error on a Dim statement, for example, you should need only to look up Dim in the language reference and find the correct syntax.
