Another option is to save the FolderItem info of the last database
opened by the app in a preferences file and automatically open that
database when your app is opened. Every time a new database or different
database is opened by your app that FolderItem becomes the current
database saved in the Preferences.

You may still want to edit the registry as Phil suggests, and set up the
file association with your database to the app so if one of your
databases is double clicked it opens your app. You also may want to
consider using a different extension other than .rsd so that the
association is specific to your app only, (which prevents opening just
any old .rsd file).
