Then the question would go down to
Since the lostfocus events is triggered ( and is not named
"losingfocus") I presumed the focus is already lost. So how comes
that calling a Msgbox would retrigger the same event.
Confusing
How would I go about verifying that the content of two fields is
identical and display a warning if it isn't without re-triggering the
event?

IMHO when you go to the MsgBox you again lose focus.
