Since the code for s\" and friends is pure ANS Forth AFAIK, you can
take it from 0.6.1 (file quotes.fs) and include it in gforth-0.5.0.

As for the availability of 0.6.1 for Windows as .exe, is there any
progress on that?

For the adventurous among you, it is available as .zip at

but that's pretty raw: no installer that works for Windows without
cygwin, and no instructions on how to install it; this is just a
regular unix-style binary package with the appropriate cygwin1.dll
included.
