Yes, dynamic native-code generation is turned off when using gcc-3.4
and later, and if you try to force using it (as is done my "make
all-bench", this fails).  As long as you stay away from --dynamic, you
should be ok (but slow).

Not really.  E.g., the K7 has a load-and-store micro-instruction,
which is contrary to RISC principles.
