No. So far I've only been using autoconf 2.61, which seems to be ok. Can you send us the configure file generated by autoconf 2.62 for comparison? "universal" indicates that autoconf thinks PPC is both little and big endian, which is from some point of view true (you can switch byte order on PPC), but not really useful.
