There are 2 issues starting with GHDL 0.26+svn98 (current Debian unstable package: 0.26+svn98+gcc4.1.2~dfsg-1). Context: - I'm using the VHPI interface to put/get signals in my design. - I'm pausing the simulation by waiting for a semaphore in the ReadOnlySync[h] callback. - I'm specifying a VCD file using --vpi=myvcd.vcd First problem: The VCD file grows and grows while the simulation is paused. Second problem (which may be a sideeffect of the first one): the resulting VCD file is invalid (based on gtkwave 3.0.22 error message). Note that besides those 2 issues, the simulation works fine and results are as expected (validated real-time against my golden model written in MATLAB).
