FWIW, that's pretty much what I did as part of my M.Eng. If I recall
correctly tho, I had to workaround some weirdness though as GHDL would
prevent sem_wait from working correctly. (I can dig the details if
requested as my conf. paper and thesis are pretty low on the
GHDL-specific details).
