What Emacs is? Is it desktop environment? I can write and I can start compiling
from it and see results in gtkwave window. And I'm not leaving Emacs while I
do that.

I tried to write VHDL a while ago with notepad++ and I just learned that
I don't know VHDL syntax as Emacs VHDL/es mode has done most of my writing...

Emacs also supports TAGS.
