Here's my regular expression (in Perl, sorry) in case you'd like to reuse it: $chars =~ s#/\*.*?\*/##gsm;
where $chars are characters read from a VHDL source file. This just strips off the block comments, which may be sufficient enough for the tool (e.g. ghdl) to parse the rest of the code. This is using Perl's regular expressions, so maybe some tweaking is needed to convert it to Ada. Sorry, I haven't learnt enough Ada to be able to code effectively, yet. Anyway, I'm a big fan of other VHDL-2008 features as well, not just block comments. :) And, that project makes good use of some of them (e.g. enhanced generics). -daniel
