Hello,

Sorry for the delay, but I needed to manually validate the mail as you aren't subscribed.

> Over Christmas I promised myself a couple of days to build ghdl from source, following http://sourceforge.net/p/ghdl-updates/wiki/build%20ghdl%20from%20source%20on%20Linux/. It seemed like the first step to learning enough simulation, ada etc to be one-day useful on the project. I still have some way to go. For example, for the next iteration I think the 'g' in gmake might be significant and I'm still tripping over paths.

Anyway, I'm doing the build in a vagrant container which is great for trying
out different linux dependencies.  This leads to my discussion query;
   * Is there already a public vagrant box or definition, including all the
right dependencies? It would be a huge leg-up for me as a new joiner.

No, as far as I know.

If there's no such vagrant box, it would be great to create one. Two options:
   * Uploading/downloading the built vagrant box .. would chew GB bandwidth but
would have the advantage of being independent of the developer's desktop o/s.
   * More reasonable would be git files/scripts. There's already a build
standard script (build_gcc), but this way it's runnable and repeatable with all
dependencies.

Feel free to investigate that, I have never used vagrant boxes.

Regards,
Tristan.
