Yes, this is what I meant: by giving all VHDL files at once to GHDL, and indicating to GHDL all generics have the exact wanted value for the simulation, all generics are considered constants. GHDL can replace all occurrences before passing everything to gcc. Also, top-level generics are then optimized away and are no longer available for execution-time -gNAME=VALUE options, but this is what we want (what I want at least ;-) ).
