When I do just as you says :
(gdb) attach 2029

(gdb) l
No symbol table is loaded. Use the "file" command.
The source code is compiled as follow:
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../..
-I/usr/X11R6/include
-I/usr/lib/glib/include
-I../.. -I/usr/local/include
-g -g -O2 -Wall -c myread.c
