Yes. Niklas should know a lot. :] He gave me a case in which it was really bad, and no need of import, it was possible to get it with current tools (gradient and proper colours). I managed to find a way to fix it, but very poor man one (spread filter, to fake dither). So with higher range formats it could happen too much.
