In general Gimp is best used to create illos for documents/web pages rather than the documents themselves. But you can save a gimp image as PostScript (don't forget to zero out the offsets in the print dialog) and then route that PostScript page to your printer somehow. Alternatively you can incorporate the image in a document type you know you can print and then print that document.
