1. Read the file 2. Separate image segment from, Comment, EXIF, IPTC, and other data segments 3. Delete just those bytes that refer to the unwanted parts of the image 4. Reassemble the file, with any required "housekeeping" bytes edited 5. Resave As others have said - not something that the GIMP does.
