In this case I would add an alpha channel to the image, select the person's
rough outlines with the lasso, invert the selection and cut. Then, with a
small eraser (round brush, 3px-11px) remove the rest. The thick black
outline allows you some imprecision here.
You can also use the paths to select the person's outline.
