Hi, Thanks again for all the help, but the cleanest and easiest is to use Gimp. I found an option under Filters ->Render->Dynamic Test which brings up a box where you can enter text or import a text file. It then goes in on a transparent background. No mess, no fuss... This is obviously old news to all those placing kernel code samples on their wallpaper background on Themes... -- Jonathan Gift
