I ran the following commands but still get the 'Your branch is ahead…'

1. git reset --hard origin/master
2. git pull
Already up-to-date.

3. git status
# On branch master
# Changed but not updated:
#   (use "git add/rm <file>..." to update what will be committed)
#   (use "git checkout -- <file>..." to discard changes in working 
directory)
#
# deleted:    myproject/protected/runtime/application.log
#

4. git commit -am 'message'

5. git status
# On branch master
# Your branch is ahead of 'origin/master' by 1 commit.
#
nothing to commit (working directory clean)
