I think setting these might have helped: $ git config remote.origin.fetch +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/* and this: $ git config remote.origin.mirror false
I also read something about packed refs or something but didn't change that. I just tried another command: git fetch --all The remote branches are now back... so this is interesting.
