Startup banner goes to System.out after Surefire’s Running `StartTezYarnCluster`. Module `log4j2-test.properties `sends SLF4J to target/tez-yarn-it.log (path in the banner). After Beeline queries you may still see PREHOOK/POSTHOOK and Tez progress on the same console—that’s HS2 stdout/stderr in the keep-alive JVM. Manual mode stays verbose on purpose; `TestTezYarnLocalization `uses silent session + empty hooks.
