@b4n Yes, the system monitor shows 0% for geany. Compiled with that line commented out and doesn't affect.
Other difference I have noticed while running geany between the two setups is that the terminal prompt of geany in GNOME doesn't show colors, both systems have libvte9. I don't think this is related to the main problem.
