I'm not sure what exactly @nrikonomov meant, I thought that with the "project killing" comment he meant the use of those "250,250,250 shades" which I fixed in the Prof-Gnome theme some time ago. And he seemed to like the modified theme as mentioned in https://github.com/geany/geany/issues/3063#issuecomment-1272315353. It's hard to satisfy everyone but to my eyes the Prof-Gnome theme is neutral enough so it shouldn't offend too many people and fixes the OP's problem (with which I agree). If someone has some more constructive comments than "I don't like it", I can try to update the theme (like I did with the white color).
