I don't think there's any bug there - I really think that for GTK the default monospaced font is Courier New (GTK probably wants to support Windows XP or, possibly, Courier New makes more sense for non-coding environments). The theme shipped with Geany is fully under our control and we could modify it whichever way we wanted.
