I agree this feature would deserve some improvements. I for instance find eliminating tabs too aggressive and something I personally wouldn't expect from "Toggle all additional widgets". On the other hand, I'd expect that the sidebar goes away which it doesn't right now. > It's actually interesting that the status bar has no toggle option in the > View menu (Geany 1.38). Yes, I agree, there should be toggle items in the menu for the status bar and also the tab bar which "Toggle all additional widgets" removes. > What's interesting is that going to Preferences->Interface I found that Show > status bar was toggled on after I toggled "all additional widgets". It simply doesn't remember the previous state and un-toggles/toggles everything. > Anyway, I believe that "Toggle all additional widgets" could be renamed to > "Simple Interface" and placed at the top of the View menu along with "Full > Interface", so "normies" (like mom and grandma) don't have to guess what > widgets are, and quickly access these two options without having to go > through half the menu for them. Possibly. The trouble is that there might be different opinions of what "simple interface" is. Should status bar or toolbar be shown in the simple interface for example? On the other hand, some users want a real hard-core simple interface that other editors call "zen interface" or similar where you only have the editor widget and nothing else (not even the menubar). -- Reply to this email directly or view it on GitHub: https://github.com/geany/geany/issues/4397#issuecomment-3172895721 You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.
