Used the experimental c-bench Conbench UI ([example](https://conbench.ursa.dev/c-benchmarks/tpch/1229570f3b8f478b8f2094a928b2eee8))to do collect further hints. [This screenshot](https://github.com/apache/arrow/assets/265630/a5253fad-d22e-4356-95ac-114df5a7251a) shows the evolution of the same benchmark (`tpch` with `engine=arrow, format=native, language=R, memory_map=False, query_id=TPCH-21, scale_factor=1`) on different platforms. There was no comparable regression on `arm64-t4g-linux-compute`, i.e. the regression is not specific to arm64. The change only shows on `test-mac-arm`. So, it's either specific to Darwin _or_ to the very specific hardware test bed in use (summer time :fire: bad fan :tornado: crunching seti@home? :alien:). -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
