decompression, since we do not use the compression paths in our codebase (we
use
https://arrow.apache.org/java/18.2.0/reference/org.apache.arrow.vector/org/apache/arrow/vector/ipc/ArrowStreamWriter.html
to send compressed data to the frontend)
