UPDATE: I finally had time today to commit the benchmarks I wrote over the weekend, and this latest commit can be found here: https://github.com/yordan-pavlov/arrow/commit/77129a87561c48560af7a995ba50c1ca7b94cdab I reduced the size of the generated benchmark data so that the benchmarks take less time, so the results will be different from the ones in my previous post. With this commit as a baseline, I will be spending the next few days to better understand what affects performance and hopefully do some tweaks to improve performance of the new ArrowArrayReader.
