If there is no performance gain then no I don't thin we should add it If we can find an example query or plausible real world benchmark where it makes a difference then I think it is more compelling I would expect this to make more of a diffrence on uncompressed string columns (where utf8 decoding was more of the overall performnace) -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
