During release process, when running for a minor/patch release thats older than the current major release, executing [`release-tarball.sh`](https://github.com/apache/arrow-rs/blob/418340d5188f6e2949c4a0545b3e437dfdc848f8/dev/release/release-tarball.sh) will first publish the tar archive to the release location in SVN (and be available on the dist url), but then it immediate runs [`remove-old-artifacts.sh`](https://github.com/apache/arrow-rs/blob/418340d5188f6e2949c4a0545b3e437dfdc848f8/dev/release/remove-old-artifacts.sh), which removes the just uploaded tar archive. Its still available in svn history, but no longer available at the url. I encountered this during 59.3.1 release, and @alamb resolved by reverting the removal manually: - https://github.com/apache/arrow-rs/issues/11352#issuecomment-6190321431 We should look into resolving this: we want the newly released artifact to still be available, but still remove old artifacts when applicable. Also see the [Apache infra reference on distributing packages](https://infra.apache.org/release-publishing.html#distribution) which does mention > Note only store the most recent version of each supported release here. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
