I'd handle the out-of-table case in `make_upscaler` with a closure that returns `Some(0)` for zero and `None` for nonzero values. Passing that through `apply_decimal_cast` would preserve nulls and apply safe/strict handling per value; it would also keep `rescale_decimal` and the Variant casts that use it consistent. Could we cover zero-only, mixed, all-null and empty arrays across the decimal widths? -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
