I'm guessing there is something automatic going on here.

Browse to the following link and then hit that 'raw' link in the top
right corner of the content. You can see that the link is correct but
the page then redirects to an incorrect page with a slash added after
the .git.

I suspect you guys added this slash to certain URLs in the past but
now that we have "<username>.github.com" in the path, it doesn't quite
work.
