Hello,
I recently upgraded from v6.9 to v7.0, then to v7.1, using the upgrade
steps mention on the web, these in the past have gone well.

This time however ever though everything is green with the:

  sudo -u git -H bundle exec rake gitlab:check RAILS_ENV=production

When connection to git lab ce via HTML I get the following error:
500, We're sorry, but something went wrong.

Ive had a look at the rather large production.log file and there are lots of :

  Started GET "/" for 127.0.0.1 at 2014-08-04 08:45:01 +0100
  Processing by DashboardController#show as HTML
Completed 500 Internal Server Error in 39ms

URI::InvalidURIError (the scheme http does not accept registry part:
version_control_server (or bad hostname?)):
    app/controllers/application_controller.rb:168:in `add_gon_variables'

I have never had to investigate these errors before so I am a little lost at
present.

version_control_server is the name of the server that this gitlabce runs on.

Can anyone please give me any pointers as to where to look.

thanks in advance.
