What a coincidence, I have had a similar problem yesterday. I am running gitlab inside a VM at my home before putting it into production at school. As I have no DNS service here I tweaked the hosts file to point the FQDN of the virtual machine to it's IP address and during installation set GitLab's machine hostname to that FQDN. The web interface worked fine, but I couldn't manage to push until I added the same FQDN entry to the virtual machine hosts file. Before that Ruby complained about an unreacheable network error, but now it is working. This could apply to your case, give it a try. Best regards,
