Sorry for replying to myself this often, but I also wanted to mention that I just tested firing a webhook from gitlab and not gitlabci, and see that I at least received the JSON HTTP POST on my build server, but the gitlab gui returned a 500 Internal Error HTTP Response. So something seems to be going on with anything that is webhook related, causing a 500 error return (for the gitlab and ci).
