I think what's going on is file (or possibly file *system*) corruption. If
I ascii-dump exceptions.rb I see a whole load of zero bytes where that
class definition should be:

 0000740  sp   R   e   s   p   o   n   s   e   E   r   r   o   r  sp   <
0000760 nul nul nul nul nul nul nul nul nul nul nul nul nul nul nul nul
0001000 nul nul nul nul nul nul nul nul  sp   r   e   s   p   o   n   s
0001020   e  sp   o   f  sp   t   h   e  sp   l   a   s   t  sp   r   e

And another 24 zero bytes appear later in that file. The other files in
that folder don't have this. Okay, probably not a gitlab problem, but now
I'm worried...

What's the easiest way to restore this? I suppose I could just copy it over
from the github source of httparty, and it'll get overwritten once more
when I do the upgrade to 8.7.2.
