Nav,
I assume you are referring to a specific repository on gitorious.org, in
which case the creators of the repository should be able to provide better
help than this mailing list does. This mailing list is dedicated to
Gitorious itself, not any of the projects on gitorious.org.

Which IDE to use depends on what kind of source code you're working with. If
it's in a programming language for which you can use Eclipse, Eclipse has a
nice Git plugin called EGit: http://eclipse.org/egit/
