Position #1

Information Technology Synthesis Specialist

The purpose of the IT Synthesis Specialist position, which will support
the USAID Human Capacity Development Center of the Global Bureau, is to
collaborate with USAID staff and development partners to establish a
sustainable system for answering questions about USAID's use of
Information Technology (IT) and to assist in synthesizing and
disseminating the answers.

Strong understanding of the use of IT, including applications of the
Internet and related
technologies; familiar with the mandates and roles of the various
organizations prominent in this field, as well as policy and technical
issues that affect the use of IT in developing countries; U.S.
citizenship required; Master's Degree in a field related to IT in
development, such as International Development, Educational Technology,
Communication, Telecommunications; min 3 years of experience related to
international development, project, program, or activity management, and
knowledge relating to using Internet technology for development;
demonstrated writing and editing skills; exp w/knowledge sharing;
excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently.

Information Technology Coordinator/Latin America & Caribbean Region

Strong understanding of the Internet and broadband applications for
development goals, including wireless access technologies. Knowledge of
the telecommunications and Internet regulatory and policy issues that
must be considered when developing any IT-based program technologies;
familiar with the mandates and roles of the various organizations
prominent in this field, as well as policy, regulatory and technical
issues that affect the use of telecommunications, Internet and other IT
applications in each Latin American & Caribbean countries; U.S.
citizenship required; Master's Degree in a field related to IT in
development, such as International Development, Educational Technology,
Communication, Telecommunications; min 3 years of experience,
including project management experience, related to international
Internet, telecommunications and development policy and regulatory
issues; demonstrated writing and communication skills; exp with
knowledge sharing; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and
problem-solving skills; experience with international development
organizations and knowledge of the organization/operation of USAID;
Spanish fluency is required.
