Dear GKD Participants,

In light of the recent posting on AIDS issues in Africa, let me point to
a useful site featuring the Brazilian experience, which has reached
promising results in its fight against the AIDS epidemic through a
combination of universal anti-retroviral drug distribution program and
close government - civil society collaboration.

Thanks

John Garrison

The HIV/AIDS Page now has 60 registered users and over 230 selected
resources posted by researchers, health officials, and AIDS activists
and from around the world. These include articles, tools, links,
official documents, directories, and calendars about such issues as AIDS
prevention approaches, anti-viral drug distribution, regional AIDS
conferences, and country epidemiological statistics.

We have just added Portuguese as a navigation language on the Gateway
and, thus you can now find useful AIDS resources in four languages -
English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish - from Africa, Latin America,
and Asia. Russian is coming!

For the next few weeks we will be highlighting the promising results
achieved in fighting the AIDS epidemic in Brazil. The Brazilian AIDS
effort is characterized by a universal anti-retroviral drug
distribution program and close government - civil society
collaboration. On the front page you will find links to the Brazilian
Government's AIDS program, to a leading AIDS/NGO page, and information
on the World Bank's AIDS loan to Brazil including up-to-date activities
and financial reports.

Visit the AIDS page, post your own resources, search a data base with
over 2000 AIDS projects worldwide, download documents, and ask/answer
questions. Share this page with your colleagues and please send me any
comments you may have concerning the content of the page.
