I have worked with networks for years by Freenet Finland, a community network for Finnish students, teachers, parents etc. It was launched in 1993 and maintained by the Lifelong Learning Institute Dipoli of Helsinki University of Technology.
Now it's my time to belong to a group of voluntary people to make a nation wide voluntary organization The Citizen Forum more visible, totally networked and internationally behaving actor. We are looking after large collaboration with similar organizations world wide. The Citizen Forum ("Kansalaisareena" in Finnish) was founded in 1993. The Forum is a national arena for promoting and supporting the development of voluntary and self-help activities. Some of the activities are information, training, consultancy, networking and a newsletter Areena. Our goal is to create modern possibilities for spontaneous participation in any community. In this sense The Citizen Forum will be THE net in Finland also about the important questions of digital divide. We think our privilege is to support voluntary action work. We'll also be a forum for socially, economically and ecologically sustainable development. The Forum is a member of the International Association for Volunteer Effort. The Forum also has partners in other Scandinavian countries - <http://www.frisam.no> in Norway, <http://www.socialforum.a.se> in Sweden and <http://www.frivillighed.dk> in Denmark. The net address of The Citizen Forum is <http://www.kansalaisareena.fi>. The site is still just mostly in Finnish but will become more international also with it's languages. In this stage of new development we'll need your help. Please let me know the addresses of similar projects you know. Tell me, if you are interested to work in different kinds of projects with us. From where do I find the most modern examples of spontaneous, human community networks? I have noticed, for example, that Communet list is not very active any more. Where do the community people have their discussions today?
