Perhaps you are already aware of this new upload tool by Yarl: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Pattypan
Arne Wossink of the Dutch chapter (WMNL) recently gave a workshop in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Pattypan proves to be a handy tool at least for small uploads (don't know a limit, might be slow though), with some advantages over GWToolSet, but not all of its capabilities: - no URL needed for the uploadables - no need for conversion of the metadata to XML - no upload permissions needed (!) The metadata templates Artwork, Information, Photograph are available by default, it seems other templates can be implemented by the user. Pattypan creates a spreadsheet for your directory with uploadable files, which can then be filled with metadata. So Pattypan is an improvement over Vicuna, also by Yarl.
