I suspect this is a dup of
<http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/1827> - does it still crash if
'dmerge' is assigned a non-overloaded type?
Also, it really helps if we have a way to contact you; the recommended way
to do this is to put your e-mail address in the Reporter field (replacing
'guest').
