ghc-6.8.2: panic! (the 'impossible' happened)
(GHC version 6.8.2 for powerpc-apple-darwin):

This is a new bug in 6.8.2 that we discovered just before Christmas:
http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/2011
the workaround is simple: just make clean in libraries/base.
