One thing I just thought about. If you tend to drop your glasses, you'll still probably put visible dings in glass lenses (just like you would with plastic lenses), and maybe even break them.
I dropped a pair of frames with CR39 lenses in the street, and they got run over by a car. The frame was wrecked, but the lenses weren't affected much, and I transplanted them to a similar frame. I'm not sure what would have happened with glass. If you just mean that you tend to clean your lenses with dry paper towels, then you're right - glass should hold up better. If you're willing to be more careful with your lenses, I'd recommend CR39, since it's a lot easier to get, it's still lighter (especially with larger frames), and the optical properties are very close to glass. Or just call a place that offers glass, like Wohl Optics, and ask them what they think. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Check us out at the oft-updated http://glassyeyes.blogspot.com!
