I agree, unless the glasses are rimless or semi-rimless, or you need the impact and shatter resistance of polycarbonite or trivex. Many, but not all optometrists refuse to make rimless or semi-rimless glasses using CR-39, as it is prone to cracking when drilled. CR-39 will give you better optical quality than either polycarbonate or 1.67 index lenses, and much better scratch resistance, even uncoated, than poly. Trivex is definitely better than poly from an optical standpoint, but usually rather expensive.
